GR10K, at MODES, Milan

GR10K and MODES came together through “Midwest Wasteland”, featuring a live performance by noise artist Shit and Shine and an installation by multidisciplinary artist group LAAR to coincide with the launch of their exclusive capsule collection during Milan Art Week.

Texas-based freeform moniker of Craig Clouse, Shit and Shine is known for blending noise and electronic music with spoken word to create unsettling live experiences that excavate the suspect corners of noise music.

Trashy trailer park utility tables adorned with office chair parts, dried flower petals, and silicon moulds offered a critical reinterpretation and ideal banquet space framed within the cultural outskirts of USA’s mobile home phenomenon. The performance and installation, which will remain on display for the duration of Milan Art Week, transformed the MODES Milano flagship store into a Midwestern wasteland, exploring an aesthetic tendency away from its derogatory innuendo and in favour of its droney poetic potential.

The capsule collection for MODES is composed of an Ultrasound-bonded and laser-cut jacket and shorts uniform in dusty blue, as well as two Klopman twill iterations in brown and dark hortensia.

“MODES has always been committed to supporting young talent and new voices, providing the right space for their unique creativity to truly shine. Collaborating with GR10K also means embracing a manufacturing tradition that truly speaks to our Italian heritage.” - Aldo Carpinteri, MODES Founder & CEO
