The Rebels: From the underground

The Rebels, an edgy street-couture brand dropped the largest Web3 fashion drop to date, showcasing how true craftsmanship and intricate details translate into the digital realm.

Fashion in the metaverse has been balancing between two opposite ends — the items are either other-worldly, such as winged dresses or tentacle head accessories, or lack imagination, as creativity ends with slapping on a logo on hoodies and t-shirts.

Impractical meta-fashion has been fueling the opinion of some skeptics, who fail to see its applicability beyond artistic expression. However, more touch points between the two worlds could encourage further public interest and with it — a deeper exploration of potential use cases of digital wearables in the Web3 space.

With the launch of the new "The Rebels: From the Underground" collection, ‘The Rebels’, a Web3 fashion venture, has laid the first bricks in building a two-way bridge between the real and the digital.

With over 50 pieces in the collection, this is the largest Web3 fashion edition to date. All physical collection items can be acquired with cryptocurrency. Later, all pieces in the collection will be rendered into digital assets – NFTs – therefore, will become tradeable.

Since all pieces in the physical collection will have a digital twin, it may also intrigue more fashion enthusiasts to delve into the so-called metaverses — virtual worlds — growing public interest in digital wearables and their applicability going forward.

The collection is an ode to Web3 and the entire decentralization movement. So far, in the Web3 world, the concept of ‘fashion’ and ‘design’ has been on the sidelines, overshadowed by major fashion houses' glittery one-time stunts. According to the creators, it is high time to embrace the art of fashion and its vital role in shaping the metaverse.

The collection came to reality in partnership with Boson Protocol, which worked with ‘The Rebels’ during the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week in Decentraland. Both companies will continue to explore and push the boundaries of Web3 fashion.
