MM6 MAISON MARGIELA x SALOMON
MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon present the first chapter of a collaboration that speaks to the brands’ shared ethos of transitional design, first seen in the Maison’s Autumn/Winter 2022 show.
Drawing inspiration from the everyday, the collection is a celebration of the unsung beauty of quotidian dressing; of the eclectic blur of clothes that pass us by on our cities’ streets. Scuffed leather twinsets sit next to blockish denim trucker jackets, while boxy, shrug-shouldered wool suits are worn with bold-hued trail sneakers.
These sneakers make up the first iteration of the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon collaboration, fusing the fashion house’s signature irreverence with the outdoor sports apparel label’s performance-oriented design approach. Comprising two new silhouettes – the Cross Low and the Cross High – both shoes strike an unexpected harmony between aesthetic unconventionality and high-tech calibre.
MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross Low
Illustrating the capsule’s hybrid perspective, the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross Low marries a progressive aesthetic with performance-ready credentials. Features such as a reinterpreted lug – derived from Salomon’s signature Speedcross pattern – and an inner mesh slip-on shoe nod to Salomon’s trail running heritage. Bold hues and a built-in ripstop gaiter speak to MM6’s unconventional yet casual design ethos, resulting in a distinct, modern silhouette. The shoe is available in three sporty tricolour colorways: black and white,red and pink and multicolor khaki and grass green.
MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross High
The MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross High similarly fuses a performance sensibility with a directional aesthetic. While it features the same redesigned lug and block heel as the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross Low, its defining design motif is its high-top silhouette, which echoes the Maison’s signature ‘6’ heel boot for a versatile, street-ready feel. With its snug suede and ripstop upper – and Salomon’s Sensifit quicklace technology – maximal stability and support can be expected when worn. The shoe is available in the collaboration’s black-and-white and red colorways.

Our motivation was to create a shoe that could easily transition between cityscapes and the great outdoors — a single product that both maintained Salomon’s high-performance specifications and also resonated with MM6 Maison Margiela’s contemporary aesthetic.
The core idea, though, was the same as it always is for us. Our goal was to push Salomon’s performance-driven designs to such an extreme that they seamlessly integrated into the MM6 Maison Margiela wardrobe.”
The MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon capsule will be available from November 11th at MM6 Maison Margiela e-commerce and boutiques, as well as in selected multibrand stores.
