I shut my eyes - Je suis responsable

I shut my eyes - Je suis responsable, with creative direction by Antonio Labroca and cinematography by Lamberto Mongiorgi, we are reminded of the importance of our own responsibility and the power that we hold within. The film follows one girl on the journey of a recurring dream, a quest to understand her being. The dark and ominous aesthetic of the film reflects the sense of worry that the subject feels about their time and how they’ve used it. Have they been responsible? Have they used their time wisely? These are the questions the subject keeps coming back too, when faced with death. Being told that she would die in a few days, with the statement I am responsible for running through her mind, we are shown the importance of our connections to this world we live in. The reference to Michelangelo Buonarroti’s Creation of Adam and it’s symbolic notion of the hands joining, reflects  that we are one. If you were given a few more days of life could you tell yourself, I’ve been responsible? I shut my eyes - Je suis responsible forces us to look within ourselves and see the impact we can and are making on the world we’ve created. We can no longer close our eyes to the injustice and inequality we see in this world, it’s time to force ourselves to open our eyes and wake up because we are all responsible.
