Ex Machina
Ex Machina does the real work of science fiction: it impresses with a protagonist, the model Yeon Soon No, with a half human and half asexual appearance.
Some of us are afraid of the react that technology we use every day can have on our life; science fiction films only represent the terror of control, the invasion of privacy and cyberterrorism; the cartoons are a way to escape from reality. In this editorial all this becomes a creative opportunity, in the strict sense: opportunity to make a human being. Pokemon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and various toys represent the fantasy that takes reality, because in a historical moment in which we all want hope, this editorial tells us that everything is possible.
The photographer Jong Wook Seo slowly places himself on the side of the inhuman rather than the human to tell again of the irrepressible desire to live, thanks also to the make up and the hairstyle by Jun Seo Lee that help the model to have a sci-fi aspect.
“There is nothing more human than the will to survive.”
