A few artificial suns and clouds

Polar opposites, the sun and the moon, both are equally glorious in their own right, their own rules and power, and part of that lives within each of us. Art direction and Photography by Angela Manzano combined with Styling from Quique Monterde and Angela Manzano, tell the story of the sun and the moon, intertwined, in-sync and completely dependent on one another. Darkness and Light, we have our own preconceived ideologies, lightness is good and pure while the dark is bad and dangerous, however beauty can be found in both and therefore in ourselves. We judge ourselves on how much Good we have inside us and we suppress the dark side, the side we’ve deemed as making us bad people. But to exist with light we must have darkness also, the light would not be able to thrive without its darkness and we wouldn’t see the beauty in the darkness without the light of the moon. All we are is a reflect of our environment, as our sun cannot exist without the moon and vice versa, we cannot exist without our own lightness and darkness.

Models, Quique Monterde and Fran Ortas, not only portray the Sun and the Moon, they portray us, that intertwined beauty of light and dark that runs through each of us, which contributes to every aspect of our lives. The identical makeup by Cristina Ortuñ, reinforces the importance of both these elements, they are one in the same, however different they look, how different the are portrayed and how they are taught, they are dependent on each other, their role to each other is the same. Like the sun and moon dependent on each other, so do we, we depend on not only ourselves but each other, the light and dark must be balanced at all times, there is beauty throughout this world in the darkest and lightest of times but how we show that is down to us alone, in essence making us an artificial Sun and Moon.
