Functionalism Unusable

Feeling a little bit upside down, back to front not knowing where you’re going. Are you stable or unstable? Can you function?

Art direction and styling by Alma Sasson and photography by Valentina Marozzi on Model Belisario Sanchez Dansey explores the theory of functionalism.

The series of stripes represented in so many ways throughout the photography can be seen to represent the many mental states we experience, from clashing on sweatshirt and pants from Ay not dead to the subtle stripe on the top by Gucci. The theory is about the nature of mental states. Functionalism retains the traditional idea that mental states are internal states of thinking creatures. We often talk about our mental state as if it’s such a terrible thing, something often kept a secret, to be ashamed of admitting. However our mental state contributes to such much of us, it’s what’s make us creativity yet rational. Not one state is the same, the way no two people are, once you learn the true power of your mind the quicker you can learn to function.
