I wanted to paint the town black

Black is a colour so oversaturated with negative connotations, the darkness inside in which we all hide from, choosing to ignore. Production, photography and styling by Rachel Colless, giving a nod to the revolutionary Punk era and its androgynous behaviour, reflects on how jaw dropping and needed this Era was for change in our society. A genre of people so unapologetically theirselves. No matter what society told them or ridiculed them for, they stood against it and fought for justice and equality. Inside all of us is a little bit of Punk, anytime we stand up for injustice or any time we go against a social norm, we have this power because of the Punk era, they paved this way for us. Rachel Colless forces us to see this in the mundane, to constantly challenge ourselves, forcing us out this little box called life.
