The Stories You Wouldn't Tell a Stranger

All of us have skeletons in our closet, which may or may not consist of a scandalous exchange of words, unforeseen trysts and betrayals that only walls can tell. There is a self-actualised dignity and intimacy kept in secrecy, tucked away under the heading of: the stories you wouldn’t tell a stranger.

Model Alysha is on an almost eerie urban escapade, portrayed by the VHS Home Video style, and the authenticity of the 35mm film effects depicted by Takuya on photography. It makes you wonder what the protagonist’s story is, where she’s come from and what her story is. Yet what you come to realise in this editorial is not her particular story, but the duality of vulnerability and stoicism, represented by the very natural and silky hair & make-up by Yooh. The soft and intimate side of the character is accompanied by the distant shots, where we only peek at parts of her off-beat yet dreamy styles through the protruding bannisters. The warm pastel tones of the garments bring this delicate character and busy atmosphere to life, cleverly and mindfully styled by Igawa.
