Elsa Robichez, when fashion doesn’t suit her, she makes her own jewelry

The french-born designer, growing up surrounded by art “I was learning without knowing I was learning”.

How did you come to jewelry?

I started creating with my father when I was a child, he was an art dealer. At the beginning, I was working on French cinema. Then after I had my kids, a friend of mine that had a very known shop in Paris called Merci, proposed to me to sell my pieces there.

What did you learn about materials?

I began to work with brass 12 years ago. and I've developed 12 colors, from red gold, then gold, champagne, rose gold, and then all the grays.

Let's talk a little bit about the name of your brand.

It's the name of a poem from Aragon. When my mom was expecting me, they thought I was going to be a boy named Louis. Then my grandmother was an amazing journalist and feminist, and she said they had to find me a name. She proposed to Elsa, the first woman who entered the French academy. I chose this name also for my brand, because I was looking for someone who was near me, and a dedication to my grandmother. I’m continuing her story.

So you live in the past?

No, nor in the future. I'm very involved in what's happening in the world today. It's the end of the world and nobody sees it! I'm always interested in unrealized projects. There are so many things we want to do "Look for it, it's there! Look for it and you will find it!"
