Anna dello Russo teaches masterclass at Istituto Marangoni London
On Tuesday, Istituto Marangoni London hosted a series of workshops and an exclusive Masterclass with Anna dello Russo, Editor-at-large at Vogue Japan and Scientific Director of Istituto Marangoni.
The Masterclass, titled “A life at Condé Nast”, chronicled Anna's journey throughout the fashion industry and her last 20 years at Condé Nast, while also sharing inspiring insights and advice from her experiences. The conversation was moderated by Anna dello Russo's long time friend and British Vogue's very own Gianluca Longo.
In keeping with her commitment as Ambassador and Scientific Director of the renowned fashion education institution, the journalist, influencer and creative consultant will walk through the doors of the School in London to meet students and industry. Following the successful lectures at the Milan, Florence and Paris Schools, the fashion icon is honoured to share her insights and inspiring anecdotes during “A Life at Condé Nast”, a Masterclass by Anna dello Russo and moderated by British Vogue’s and long-time friend Gianluca Longo. Her trajectory as well as her last pivotal 20 years at Condé Nast will be dissected by Anna herself on the last day of LFW SS20.
Vogue Japan’s creative director made herself available for a day of workshops and fruitful confrontation that will end with a special presentation of the “AdR Book: Beyond Fashion”, one of the many outcomes of her vast and successful career. A book signing and networking event will take place after the lecture for students and industry. The book, published in 2018, documents the esteemed editor’s 30-year commitment to the fashion sphere in the form of a box set, which includes a pop-up book, a selection of her greatest looks and also excerpts from her diaries.
As a natural result of her solid knowledge and creative acumen, her wisdom and expertise are an irreplaceable asset to both students and industry professionals alike.
A series of workshops on key sectors of the industry, such as Luxury Fashion PR, The Art of Draping and Creative Direction, will be running from 10am prior to the Masterclass, a constructive warm up to kick off the day as well as a way for industry and guests to experience a typical moment of creativity and hands-on training at the School.
Anna dello Russo has been Fashion Editor of Vogue Italia and, from 2000 to 2006, the director of L'Uomo Vogue. Currently creative director at Vogue Japan, she has been described as a "fashion maniac" by Helmut Newton and is one of the first online influencers and street style icons that has been translating this understanding of global trends into a democratic and spectacular story. Italian in origin but international in spirit, the editor has travelled the world and gathered inspirations over the years from fashion and beyond.
"Anna Della Russo has been, for many years, a global style icon and fashion innovator. Her strength and belief in self-expression is a beacon of brilliance for so many, inspiring women to speak their minds, show their self- confidence and pursue their dreams. We cannot wait to welcome her to our School!” says Charlotte Gorse, London School Director
“I am thrilled to finally visit the London School and bring part of my “Playground” program (how I like to define my workshop approach) from Milan to the students in London. The city being the place for self expression by definition represents an ideal frame for a day of fruitful exchange and inspirational conversations. I look forward to an exciting Masterclass with my dear friend and Condé Nast colleague Gianluca Longo and to meeting the London fashion audience in my function as Mentor School’s Brand Ambassador, a new role that I am so honoured to fulfil” declares Anna dello Russo
The participation of Anna dello Russo, an established, key and iconic figure is part of Istituto Marangoni’s continuous efforts to bridge the gap between education and industry, allowing a new generation of talent the invaluable experience to connect with and be inspired by leaders and game changers in order to drive themselves forward.
