Genevieve and Her Father
Genevieve and her Father toys with the balance of masculinity and femininity through the inspiration of a fatherly figure. Photographer Ulrich Hartmann collaborated with stylist Olivier Mohrińge with models Maceo and Gian.
Through the styling, Olivier Mohrińge creates a strong masculine presence through the use of business man attire from the sharpness of the blazer, however contrasting with the subtle red pussybow blouse and mesh contrast we given a hint to a much softer, slightly more feminine side. The balance of masculine and feminine energy is something that resides in us all, and perfecting this balance is one of the most importance things in life. From the styling, we see that the inspiration of ‘Her Father’ was someone of strong masculine qualities, strong, powerful, a leader, however we see a nod towards a more feminine, gentle approach in which was inspirational.
Makeup by Monica Karsai and Lisa Breitfeld also highlights the more feminine softer side of us humans, the highlighted pink, a colour for centuries associated with femininity, around the eyes draws the focus to the eyes while creating a softer approach to the masculine elements of the faces, breaking down that tough barrier of hardship around masculinity.
