San Junipero

San Junipero is an episode from Black Mirror as you all may know. This editorial captures the playful, yet apprehensive moments of the same-sex couple Yorkie and Kelly with a visually appealing essay, which sets in the 1980s wild times. I couldn’t think of a better reference than “The Symposium” by Plato for the love they hold for each other. It is a force that completes one another, otherwise the individual loses meaning in their reality.

Lisa Arhelger and Luise Zucker, the creative directors reflect the idea of love not being heavenly or wise, but pursuit of wisdom and beauty, as Diotima suggests. It somehow asks the reader a relatable question, what is the ideal form of love?
